SPENCER RAY DAVIS, 1964-2023
November 12, 1964 – December 3, 2023
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Spencer Ray Davis. He
was home and surrounded by family as he passed from this world in the early
morning hours of December 3 rd .
Spencer was born November 12, 1964, to Carol and Don Davis in Glendale,
California. After his two younger brothers were born, the family relocated north
to Eureka, growing up in the family home on Vista Drive. He attended Grant,
Winship, and graduated from Eureka High School in 1982. As a boy, Spencer's
passion for building models and collecting cars started to develop. It became a
lifelong hobby. He considered himself a "Mopar Man" and loved all things Dodge,
especially his prized 1970-RT Charger 440 4-speed, with the original 6-pack
carburetors. His first car was a Dodge Monaco station wagon that he bought
from his neighbors, the Brewsters, for 50 bucks. He was also known for driving
the family 1969 Vista Cruiser for many years, with its ever-evolving paint job. In
later years, Spencer was hard to miss in his bright yellow Ram 4x4 truck.
After high school, Spencer graduated from Chico State University on the "10-year
masters program" with a degree in Art History. Before graduating, he drove
across the country with his father in his 1969 Super Bee Charger to attend the
University of Alabama, where he became a lifelong fan of the Crimson Tide
football team and would never miss a chance to watch their games – Roll Tide
Roll! He lived in the Chico area for many years and worked at Chico Unified
School District. He was a member of Red Barn. Many stories of the fun and wild
times during the Chico college days will live in infamy.
While living in Chico, on a weekend visit home to Eureka, Spencer met his future
wife, Rose, after being introduced by mutual friend Marcie Conn. They married
on January 17, 1998. Spencer relocated to Fair Oaks and soon thereafter started
working at Sierra College, where he was employed for almost 25 years. His
coworkers became another family for him. He was known by practically everyone
and loved being part of the campus family. He especially enjoyed working with
his friend Scott Pisik in the warehouse.
Spencer's true love in life was his daughter, Sabrina. He was a devoted, loving
father. There is not one piece of art or writing or photo of Sabrina's that Spencer
did not save and have adorned around his house. Sabrina and Spencer were very
close. He loved taking her to the park when she was younger, car shows,
camping, attended all her volleyball games. In recent time, he enjoyed letting her
drive him around as she practiced for her driving test.
Among Spencer's other hobbies, he had a very eclectic taste in music, which
ranged from classical to country to rap and everything in between, including his
recent "discovery" of Motorhead. He loved watching NASCAR and his beloved,
yet, seemingly cursed Oakland Raiders and participating in Fantasy Football
leagues every year. He enjoyed family trips to Susanville and became well versed
in the Basque culture. He was forever a history buff and could rattle off the most
obscure factoid relating to any aspect of World War II. He was also the family
historian when it came to videotaping or recording or photographing special
events and leaves behind thousands of pictures and many recordings of special
times. He was also a talented impressionist and could replicate voices of almost
anyone, but loved mimicking people with annoying mannerisms, to everyone's
delight.
Spencer is survived by his daughter, Sabrina; his wife, Rose; his mother, Carol, and
her companion, Steve; his father, Don, and his companion, Elberta; his younger
brother Brett; his younger brother Randall and his wife, Erika, and their children,
Jules and Sylvie; his aunt, Diane, and his uncle, Bill, and their children. He was
preceded in death by his beloved Aunt Joyce.
Services for Spencer will be held Monday, January 15, 2024, in Roseville/Rocklin.

Spencer: You were one-of-a-kind, a true character. We'll remember your

be missed but never forgotten.
