David Clark
Vickerman
Jan 16, 1949 — Aug 5, 2025
Roseville
David Clark Vickerman passed away on the morning of August 5, 2025, at the age of 76 in Roseville, CA. He was surrounded by his family and is now, finally, at peace.
Dave had the biggest heart. He loved his family more than anything in the world. Everything he did was done out of love, caring, and a deep desire to help others. His faith in God and the power of love was a steadfast rock upon which he anchored all of his actions, thoughts, and deeds. This was evident to his wife, his two children, and their spouses, and importantly, his four grandchildren.
He was born in California and grew up in the Bay Area, where he played water polo throughout high school and college and was very active in the auto shop. That love of fixing cars drove him to pursue Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he met several lifelong friends and his future wife, Carol.
Carol and Dave were married while he was in the Navy Diving and Salvage School in Washington, DC. He was always a proud Navy veteran, where he served for decades in active duty and reserves, retiring at the rank of Captain. Outside of the Navy, he worked as an engineer for Lockheed, General Electric, Oceaneering, and even started his own company, DVD Engineering.
Together, they were fortunate to live in many states around the country, including Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Washington, where they eventually settled after retiring. In those years, Dave enjoyed traveling, editing home movies, and tinkering on his '57 Chevy. In 2024, they moved back to California to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Melville "Jack" Vickerman, and his mother, Kathleen Vickerman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; his children, David Vickerman (Kristy) and Amy Pastorino (Nick); and his cherished grandchildren, Lila and Inara Vickerman, and Rocky and Victoria Pastorino. He also leaves behind his siblings, John Vickerman (Kaye), Kathy Farrell (Bruce), and Mike Vickerman (Gina), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
The Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Sierra Presbyterian Church in Loomis, CA. In lieu of flowers, and because he always led with his heart, we would ask that you donate to one of these two wonderful organizations in his name: @American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/) and/or Revive Dive (https://www.revivedive.org/copy-of-donate).
